Metal Garage Door & UPVC Front Door Spray Finish (Before & After)

Spray-painted garage door and front door finished in dark grey/black on a brick house.

A quality spray finish can completely change the look of a property—but the key is in the preparation, especially when working with different materials. For this project, the aim was to create a clean, modern colour change on a metal garage door and a UPVC front entrance door, with crisp edges and a smooth, durable exterior finish.

The brief

  • Spray-finish the metal garage door and the UPVC front door
  • Achieve a consistent colour and clean, sharp edges
  • Protect surrounding brickwork, paving and fittings during spraying
  • Leave a smooth, long-lasting finish suitable for exterior use

Preparation (the most important part)

Different surfaces need the right approach. Both doors were thoroughly cleaned and prepared, and the surrounding areas were carefully masked to prevent overspray and keep the lines crisp.

Typical prep included:

  • Deep cleaning and degreasing
  • Light sanding/keying to help adhesion
  • Material-appropriate priming (metal vs UPVC)
  • Careful masking around frames, brickwork and ground edges
UPVC garage door area masked and protected with tape before spray painting.
On-site setup during a spray finish project: metal garage door finished in dark grey/black, with the UPVC front door nearby.

Finished result

Both doors now match beautifully, giving the front of the house a smarter, more modern look with an even, factory-style finish.
