Recently, a homeowner in Rochdale contacted TAB Bespoke Builds looking for a practical way to conceal a newly installed solar inverter and battery storage system.
Although the solar equipment had been professionally installed, it remained fully exposed on the exterior wall of the property. The customer wanted a solution that would improve the appearance of the area while still allowing easy access for future maintenance and servicing.

Project Requirements
The enclosure needed to:
- Conceal the solar inverter and battery storage system
- Maintain adequate ventilation
- Allow unrestricted maintenance access
- Protect the equipment from direct weather exposure
- Complement the appearance of the property
Unlike a simple boxing-in project, the enclosure had to be designed around the operational requirements of the solar installation.

Planning and Design
The first stage involved measuring the equipment and planning the enclosure layout.
Particular attention was paid to:
- Ventilation requirements
- Future servicing access
- Clearance around electrical components
- Access to the electrical isolator
- Overall appearance and proportions
A bespoke timber framework was designed specifically around the existing installation.
Construction

The enclosure was constructed using exterior-grade materials suitable for outdoor use.
A custom timber framework was installed around the inverter, battery storage system and associated electrical components. Sufficient clearance was maintained to allow airflow and future maintenance access.
Twin access doors were incorporated into the design to provide full-width access to all major components without requiring the enclosure to be dismantled.
Shaker-Style Doors

To complement the property, the enclosure was fitted with bespoke shaker-style doors finished in white.
The twin-door design provides:
- Easy access for maintenance
- Balanced proportions
- Improved durability
- A clean and timeless appearance
Each door was carefully aligned to ensure smooth operation and consistent gaps throughout.
Finished Result

The completed enclosure successfully transforms an exposed solar installation into a clean, professional-looking feature that blends naturally with the property.
When closed, the enclosure conceals all equipment and cabling. When opened, engineers retain full access to the inverter, battery storage unit, electrical isolator and associated wiring.
The result is a practical and attractive solution that improves the appearance of the property without compromising functionality.
